Stampendous Chipboard Challenge ~ Trees

Over at Stampendous Blog  there is a challenge to use chipboard.  I wasn't going to enter as I didn't have any chipboard die cuts or anything.... but reading the blog post, I realised I could just use some sort of heavy cardboard.  My son got  a new clock radio alarm and I thought the box would be perfect... it's patterned on one side and kraft on the other and a bit corrugated in between.   Out came one of my earliest Cuttlebug die and emboss sets.. Christmas Trees.  I ended up making two cards.

Three trees

For the first one, I cut out and embossed the trees, then used Peeled Paint distress stain to colour them.  The background was a piece of stamped card I had lying around.  I had used a shadow stamp and some distress inks to make a watercoloured look.  I used the sketch from CAS-ual Fridays to make a CAS card.

Black and White Christmas Trees

My second card came about as I cut a few extra trees and realised the coloured side of the cardboard was intriguing.  I layered the skeleton trees over one of the other trees.  I cut out a Spellbinders circle die and stamped Hero Arts Musical Background, made some snowy hills and stuck on my trees.   Really pleased how this turned out.

Recycling really does pay off..  A real case of waste not, want not...

Adding these both to the Our Creative Corner's Christmas Tree Challenge

I've just spend the last two hours addressing my Christmas cards as the NZ Post cut off date for guaranteed arrival in Canada, USA and Europe, is this Friday.  Still about 10 cards to do, then onto making some more for my NZ and Australia friends and family.

Take care all
Cheers

Present card

I printed the present at spprox 5" x 4" on to plain white card and some different patterned papers and pieced together. I stuck this to a folded card base putting one edge to the fold and cutting around it.

I also decorate the inside

Using digital stamps is such fun... and this lovely set is only $1 over at Mygrafico

And lastly another butterfly hatched out yesterday evening

Aren't Monarch Butterflies just stunning colours.  This one reminds me of Hero Arts Heart Butterfly.
