Stamp of Approval - Young at Heart.

After much umming and ahhhing I gave in and purchased Catherine Pooler's StampNation Stamp of Approval Young at Heart collection.  With the NZ/USA rate of exchange it was a tad expensive here in NZ.... but when it arrived WOW was I impressed!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a stunning collection of goodies.   I can see many many cards coming from the box.

Here is my first one:

I started by using the stencil to first ink with Squeezed Lemonade then moving the stencil and inking with Wild Honey ink.  I went dark in the top corner and lighter towards the bottom.   I stamped  the cake with black ink and die cut it.  The icing was cut and then used the Wild Honey to colour.   Used the larger sentiment and some sequins to finish.

Simple masking

It's my turn to post at A2Z Scrapbooking today and I here with a simple masking technique using some of those little stamps that are on many of the Hero Arts sets

IMG_1485W
I started by using some Post-It tape to mask off a stripe on my card.  I then sponged with some Tumbled Glass distress ink to define the masked area.   I then stamped some of those little stamps in a variety of distress colours.  I used Hero Arts set CL864 (currently Out of Stock at a2z Scrapbooking, however you can CUSTOM Order it in the Store. Just click on the REQUEST CUSTOM ORDER form on the store HOME Page)

The bigger flower was stamped, coloured with distress ink and Wink of Stella and then fussy cut and used as a focal image. I finished with a sentiment from an older set.

Weekend fun

I had a fun Saturday stamping and creating.  Hubby was off on a fishing trip so Friday morning I send out an email to group of stamping friends inviting anyone who could come at short notice, that it was open home... and Sandie and Lei took up my invite.  So the three of us had a great day creating.  Nice with just the three of us so we could spread out...

It was really was a very hot day and poor Lei was hot and tired so we told her to have a snooze on my couch

I was able to get two cards and a box card done during the day.  We stopped for lunch outside for a bit and then back into it till around 4pm.

My box was a commission for an 80th birthday.  I used a Hero Arts Rose which I coloured with Copics and fussy cut.   PP from a new pack by MME - metallics

This card was inspired by one I saw by Vanessa Menhorn and from the CCC sketch on Deborah Nolan's February CCC.  I had a round three goes at getting this one finished.  Did the panel and then smudged a corner so re-did it, then got some smudges on the base stamping... finally got it finished - was able to save a smudge by using the white embossed sentiment on the black card.  The flowers are a mixture of some CASual Friday stamps fussy cut and a Stampin' Up! stamp and matching punch.  This is on it's way to Australia.

And my final card was just some playing around with some Altenew stamps that arrived last week.

Was really pleased at how these layered flowers turned out.  I finished with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins and a Kaisercraft sentiment.  I had put this one on my Face book page and one of my work colleagues asked me to bring it in and bought it off me.  Last week I sold 17 cards at work so my supplies are getting a bit low...

Hope you enjoyed seeing what I've done lately.

Inspsired by......Jennifer McGuire

Isn't so much fun when you see a technique that just inspires you to create... well that's what happened to me watching Jennifer McGuire doing a white pencil highlighting technique (see her video here)

I so enjoyed this technique.  Here are three cards I've made so far....

This first one uses a large Stampin' Up! roses.  I don't know the name of the set as I got it second hand and it is not noted on it.   Added a white embossed sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

The second one uses all Hero Arts stamps.  The florals are from Night and Day Flowers set.  And  I used the wood mounted Happy Birthday to You for the sentiment.   As this is a one layer card I have added this to the challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

And my final one uses an Altenew floral set with another Hero Arts sentiment.  This time I cut it on an angle and mounted it with some black matting

I really am enjoying this technique.  It makes such a great CAS that you can dress up if you want.  Plus the beautiful bold colours are fabulous.

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Valentine's Day to "Ewe"

Hi there.  Today's card is my sample for Chalk'n'stock - our February challenge is now underway.   As usual our sponsor is Bugaboo

and our theme is Anything Goes - just as long as you use chalk somewhere on your card.....

I love Bugaboo digital images... The choices are fabulous.  I chose to make a Valentine's card

Isn't it adorable!  I used Copics to colour the sheep.  The colour around them is a Chalk ink.  I added Wink of Stella to the eyelids and Glossy Accents to the hearts.  Layered it onto a pale green card.

Do come and join us and you could win 7 Bugaboo images.

Thanks for visiting today.

Masked butterfly

Back again today to share a masked butterfly card I made for A2Z Scrapbooking.   I have really enjoyed doing some masking and inking with this one,

IMG_1457W

I started by cutting a mask with the Fancy Butterfly die (DI708) out of Masking paper and placed it onto some watercolour paper.  I used a small dauber to sponge on some Abandon Coral distress ink in the centre of the butterfly.  I then added some Mermaid Lagoon distress ink all around the rest of the card.  My leaves are an ancient Hero Arts stamp (CG288 - now discontinued)  First I spritzed with water and stamped onto the background.  This gives subtle marks.  I then used some dark green ink to randomly stamp the leaves around the butterfly.  My sentiment is from Your are my Happy ( CL923 ) from the new Valentine's collection.

I hope you take time to join our challenge this month  ( see here) with your cards that use some masking...

Watercoloured background scene

I have been taking this online card class.... and it's been very inspiring, but still quite daunting.  It's all about using your watercolour mediums to paint....

I decided to try out Day 3's scene painting.  I printed a Mo Manning Digital stamp onto my watercolour paper, masked it off and then went for it.

I used some Molotow masking fluid to mask off the image before painting the background.  Well all I can say is I NEED much more practice.  I did some lifting of colour for my sky and grass.   I will trim it and add a sentiment to make a card.

I hope to try some of the Expressive florals and leaves.  They look fun to try.  Just to find the time and enthusiasm.  It's too hot to do much at the moment.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hero Arts Masking

Hi there - It's a new challenge at A2Z Scrapbooking and our theme this month is Masking.
Did you know that using a stencil is a type of masking?  Well it is.  I have combined some traditional masking and a stencil to show case the Hero Arts goodness this month.

I added some post-it tape down each side of my card and then stenciled the Swirl stencil in Hero Arts Ombre ink (Lime to Forever Green)  I die cut the hello from Hero Arts Hello Stamp and Die set in dark blue card and added the sentiment in blue Memento ink. Add a few Pretty Pink Posh Nature sequins.  CAS card done in next to no time.

Both the stencil and Stamp & Die set are out of stock at A2Z Scrapbooking but if you really want them, please feel free to custom order it in the Store. Just click on the REQUEST CUSTOM ORDER form on the store HOME Page!  Plus check out all the fabulous stock in store.  Plenty of new stuff in the sales section,
