Ally's challenge and a morning Scramble.

I've had a great weekend - got a bit of crafting done after doing all my housework including cleaning and tidying my utensils drawer....

I undertook Ally's challenge at StampNation... she gave each of those taking part the choice of two older challenges to take part in... I got #83 Sponging and Sparkle or #168 Waffle Flower inspiration.    I chose to do #83 after watching Catherine's video from 2013.

I used Catherine Pooler Designs Yay Stripes stamped in Altenew Mocha ink and stamped the Penny Black flower with Espresso ink.  I coloured it with Touchnew markers and added glue and Diamond Dazzle glitter to the flowers.   The sentiment is a NZ stamp company one.. Rubbadubbadoo.

And this morning I got up early at 7.00am to take part in the Hero Arts Flickr group 90 mins scramble.  LaVon set us a challenge to use a Diagonal on our card.   I decided to use a curvy diagonal using The All Occasions Embossing folder

I embossed two pieces of card - one red and one white and cut around the curvy part and pieced them together again.  I stamped the Hero Arts Vintage Poinsettia and used some Copics to colour.  I left a little bit of white on each petal to give it some dimension.  I couldn't find the matching die so had to fussy cut it.

My second one for the scramble used a more traditional diagonal - masked off part of the card

This one used the Holly  Leaves from an older Hero Arts set stamped in Hero Arts Green Fields ink.   The red berries were stamped in Altenew ink.  A very quick card.

And because I had a piece of the embossing left and my Hero Arts stamps out I made another Christmas card

I added the red panel to the bottom of a white base and then stamped and die cut the sentiments from the Peace cut and die set. I finished with a silver glittered die cut dove.  This die was a freebie last Christmas that had never been used.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and for making it to the end of this long post....

Watercoloured Beautiful Day Flowers

Hi there... I've got a lovely set of cards I made over the weekend to share with you today.  I stamped a bunch of Altenew Beautiful Day flowers - using the outline stamp and then took some beautiful soft shimmery watercolour paints and coloured them in.

Once each of the flowers had dried, I took a coordinating Altenew ink and used one of the layers onto the flowers.

Having the matching dies are invaluable.  It made it so easy to cut them out.  I also did some leaves from this set and also some from Altenew's Peony Bouquet as well.  Again I used the paints and then some inks.

I used the Catherine Pooler set Hello World for the sentiments for the cards.  I matted them all on some coordinating cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Would love if you want to leave me a comment.

Pumpkin Time at StampNation

It's time for another challenge at StampNation and this week we are challenging you to add a pumpkin to your card or just create a card for your favorite punkin'.

Here in NZ Halloween is not as big in as in the USA, so I don't make many Halloween cards.  But recently I heard about a young girl (just turned 7)who has Behcets Disease and will be in hospital at Halloween.  I have made a card to send to her.

I used Bat Cat from Penny Black for my focal image.  I stamped and then used my Touchnew Alcohol markers to colour.  I made my background by clear embossing Hero Arts Tiny Stars background onto purple card.    The sentiment is from All Occasions Sentiments by Clearly Besotted.   I added glitter and glossy accents to the bat mask.

If you need any Hero Arts products, be sure to check out A2Z Scrapbooking. You can use code Dawn15 at checkout to receive 15% off your purchase of $25 or more. (before tax and shipping)

Labour Weekend fun

Hi there... It's been a long weekend here in NZ with Monday being a public holiday to celebrate Labour Day - the beginning of the 40 hour working week. We headed up to Mangawhai Heads with our friends. Being the long weekend I took a box of crafting stuff with me... I spend all of Saturday crafting... Got 4 cards made. One was very involved and took nearly 2hrs to make. For me this was a long time as I tend to make much quicker CAS cards. So here is it is.........................

This card is made with freebie stamps from a magazine I got this week.  I copied the sample in the magazine using a Z-fold card.   Just changed up the colour and position of the flowers and used a different die for the sentiment.  Lots of fussy cutting involved in the making of this one.  I used Zig Markers to colour the flowers.

So my next cards were definitely more CAS.

This is an Easel card made using a Kaisercraft Die set that I picked up for $5.00
Decorative Die Circle Card Flip
It lets you cut a half circle and then a little half circle tab and make an easel card as well as a flip card.  I used some Penny Black stamps to decorate and some tartan PP.   Added a little die cut bow from SOA set.

The next one was a CASE of a card by Ally at StampNation and used all SOA Candy Cane Lane stamps and one of the borders from Catherine Pooler's Yay Stripes.

 Here is Ally's card.

I used the red at the base of the card and masked off the central sentiment before stamping the branches in two different greens.  Added some red berries and then some blue stars to pull in the colours that Ally used.

And finally a very CAS Christmas card using some more of the SOA Candy Cane Lane collection.  This one uses the Crooky Tree - first time using it.

My tree was stamped in the two layers with different Altenew inks.  I stamped the sentiment in some grey Altenew ink.  The edge of my panel was embossed with an edge folder.

Well if you made it this far, I thank you and I'll leave you with a few photos of the rest of weekend.

these two are taken on our walk at Te Arai Point.

And this was dessert on Sunday evening... Lemon Meringue Pie made by me, with Mango Sorbet made by Yvonne.   Yummy!

thanks for stopping by.

Hi crafty friends.  I'm here  to share a layered card with you today for A2Z Scrapbooking.  My card has a number of card layers which is our challenge this month.

Peace Ornament

I used some American Crafts card to make my main layers with some silver mirror card as mats.  The foiled layer is from a Heidi Swapp paper.  It is all the soft green colour (did not photography well!)  I had the clear embossed piece on my table ( mine is not a Hero Arts stamp but THIS one is perfect to use .)   I die cut the ornament (DC166 Merry & Bright Tag Set) from the silver mirror card and then die cut the PEACE (DC187 Peace Stamp and Die) from the green card and stamped the rest of the sentiment in Archival ink

NOTE: both of these  popular Stamp and Die sets are currently Out of Stock at a2z Scrapbooking, however you can CUSTOM Order it in the Store. Java Time at StampNation

New challenge at StampNation -  Create a card inspired by your favorite hot beverage

I'm not a coffee lover but totally rock Hot Chocolate.   I do make a great coffee according to my husband.

I used a mixture of digital and clear polymar stamps.  The background is made with the Coffee Ring stamp from Altenew stamped with Vintage Sepia Momento ink.  The sentiment is also from the same set.  The little beans and sentiment on the coffee cup are from a little Hero Arts set (Circa 2008) called Sparkle Clear Coffee (discontinued)  The coffee cup is a digital image by My Scrap Chick and is called Java Time.  I printed it, added the sentiment and coloured with distress inks - Old Paper and Ground Expresso.  I used the antlers from the Deer in the SOA Hip Holiday to make my steam - stamped in Colorbox Frost White ink.  The heart is from Candy Cane Lane set.

Are you are a member at StampNation?  If not, I can totally recommend it.  See HERE to find out all about the community.
