In a Blue Mood

No not really.  Just my monochromatic card over at Die Cut Divas.

My base card started with some Altenew Washi Tape.  It's a wide one that I added to some card.  I then used a die to cut a rounded rectangle to make a card front.  I then used an Altenew sentiment with some Catherine Pooler ink and cut with a Spellbinders die.  I sponged the same ink while the die cut was still in place.  I used some 3D tape to add to the card.  A few Nuvo drops finished the card.

Beautiful Day roses and some colouring.

I finally managed to get some crafty time on Friday evening and today.    Yesterday I watched a video on FB by Sharon White.  She had used  Oxide inks on her background, added a few other stamps then added the Beautiful Day stamp from Altenew.   I don't have many Oxides - in fact only 4 colours, but decided to give it a go.  When I went to stamp the roses, I wanted a really vibrant ink so as to stand out from the multi coloured and stamped background... so my handy dandy Catherine Pooler inks came to the fore....

I used all four of my oxides on the background... smooshing them directly to the card and spritzing the life out of the card..  As it's not watercolour paper I was surprise how well it stood up to that.   Dried it then used the oxide to stamp a crackle stamp, a line of music and a harlequin background stamp all over.   Dried that and added the rose outline in Versafine and then added the 2nd and 3rd layers in the CP inks....same with the leaves. These inks are so vibrant and saturated in colour.    Added a sentiment from another Altenew set - double layered in white card.   My base card looks black but is in fact a very dark grey.    I was very happy with the results.   I also did some Altenew stamping inspired by Yana Smakula - did background stamping on a 15cm x 21cm piece of card and cut into two panels.... still have to finish off so will share once I decide how to complete them..

I'm adding this card to the Floral Frenzy over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Today I was home alone as my Dad and hubby were off helping a friend put in some windows.  So what's a girl to do when she home alone and the weather isn't great..... colour of course.  I should have been doing some more of my Altenew homework and a couple of DT cards that need doing, but decided to take part in Kit and Clowder's Confidence challenge.... Alyce challenged us to make a start of a class... I saw a super cute La La Land Marcie Cupcake free class and went and purchased the digi image and made a start..... of course once I started I had to finish... so a couple of hours later I did!  And made it into a card

The class video showed Alyce colouring this in Copic markers.  I didn't have the colours in my Copics so used the Prismacolors conversion that was provided with the class and coloured away.  I'm so happy with the result I achieved.  I added the grounding which wasn't shown in the class and added a little sentiment from Altenew.    Now I must finish off February's flowers and make a start of March's seaside scene.   And of course do the card I NEED to do for my teams!

Hope you all have a great weekend and get your craft on too!

Bunnies for Easter

Easter is coming up quickly and I needed to get my Easter card for Archie into the post ASAP.

I chose to use a digi stamp from Di's Digis.  It is adorable...

I used my Prismacolor pencils to colour the image and cut it out with my ScanNCut.  I made the fur on the bunny using the technique I learnt at Kit and Clowder.

My second bunny card uses a digi stamp by From my Heart ( I can no longer find this company on the internet).  I picked up this digi about 2 years ago.

I printed the image out onto some cartridge paper and used my pencils to colour.

I am entering this into the challenge at Creative With Stamps.  I've already entered the first one there.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your visits.

Using Paint Chips

This month over on our NZ Craftycardmakers site, the challenge set by Carol was to use Paint Chips to make our project.  I had disposed of any that I had so a quick trip to Bunnings to get some was in order.  I love the Dulux paint chips - they have three different shades of the same colour on each card. Plus they are named after NZ places.   I went online to Pinterest to get some ideas and here's what I made,

I didn't have a 3/4" punch so used my 1" one and used the Corner Chomper at 1/2" to round the opposite corners on each one.    Maxine, who I sent this one to, has let me know it's arrived.

I'm off to a walking weekend this weekend... I'm doing two activities - Saturday we are trying Stand Up Paddle boarding followed by a walk through the sand dunes.  And on Sunday we are doing a Wine tour... some walking between a couple of the vineyards and some busing as well.

Off to do some colouring... I'm way behind in Feb's class and March's class is out tonight!

Thanks for stopping by.

For the Guys

I  have been working on my Altenew Educator Certification this week.

I have been taking the For the Guys class.  Lots of great ideas for making cards for the men/boys in your life.   I love the ideas provided by Jennifer.  I was inspired by the geometric cards she did...

I used the Cube Builder stencil to make my background.  Love the geometric look it makes.  I added the fabulous sentiment from Birthday Bash Stamp set.  I die cut the sentiment with a Spellbinders die which I kept on the die cut and sponged with blue and green inks.

This will be heading it's way to Perth for my son-in-law's birthday later this month.

Thanks for stopping by.

Pop it Up!

OMG - I almost forgot that I had a Design Team card due this morning!  So a very quick trip to the craft room and a card made it up on to the Southern Girls Challenge in time. Our theme is Pop it Up.....

The sponsors this time around are

and

I used a cute image from Lacy Sunshine called Emily - Snow Princess.

I used a MFT oval die cut from sparkle foam and used some 3M mounting tape to add it to the card.  I added the tape to the main image as well.  I added some flowers I made with a Heartfelt Creations stamp and cut out with my Scan'N'Cut, then molded using the Heartfelt Creations Basic Flower Mold (available from Artfull Crafts)

I'm looking forward to the weekend, as my Dad is arriving to stay with us for the next two months.... it will be great to have him here.  Maybe I'll be able to persuade him to come and live here... who knows!
Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you are getting your craft on this week.

Altenew Educator Certification Program....

I'm happy to say I have been accepted into the program... and finally (after about a month or so) managed to do a few of my assignments.   I found I had already taken 15 out of the 20 classes so I've been reviewing the classes I already have completed and made some cards.  Today I got 3 cards done... so here they are:

ALL ABOUT LAYERING 1

I used Painted Flowers for my card (from Lesson 4) and was inspired by how easy Nicole made the stamping of this layering set.   I chose a simple design to show case the layered flowers which I stamped in orange tones.

ALL ABOUT LAYERING 2

For this class I chose to use Beautiful Day stamp set from Lesson 2.  I LOVE this flower set.  For this card I chose to make a few flowers in different colours.

I die cut a trellis to add to the background and layered the stamped flowers and leaves around the bottom corner.  I don't have the sentiment dies from Altenew (on my wish list) so I added the Hello from Catherine Pooler.   This class is great, giving really awesome tips and hints for layering these stamps.  Plus Altenew inks make the choosing co-ordinating colours so easy.

and my last card for today

EASY INK BLENDING TECHNIQUES

There are so many beautiful ways in the class to do ink blending.  I've done for a fairly simple ink blending with some Distress Oxide inks - Broken China and Cracked Pistachio to make a background to showcase the Adore You flowers

For my flowers I gold embossed a variety of flowers from the set and used some Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers to colour them in.  I hand cut around the flowers and layered them together.  I was inspired by the first lesson in the class.... doing some simple blending, stepping it up with two colours fading out to white to allow the sentiment to pop.  All the lessons in this class are so inspiring.

I also did another card but not sure that is up to standard... so will looking at doing another one for the Clean and Simple Boutique cards.

Thanks for stopping by.  I enjoyed my day stamping and happy to get a good start of my homework.

Monochromatic Green

Hi all.... March has arrived and as it's the first it's time for latest challenge at Die Cut Divas.  Our challenge is MONOCHROMATIC.  The sponsor is

I chose GREEN as my monochromatic colour scheme as I have this wonder PP that looks like water colour paper.  It was my base for my card

I used a Catherine Pooler butterfly die (similar to this die available at Cheapo Dies)  and cut it from two different greens.  I stamped the Catherine Pooler circle sentiment and cut with a Simon Says Stamp stitched circle die.

Do come and join us at Die Cut Divas
